Google Art Project

This is so awesome! Google has launched a new website that allows users to virtually walk through 17 major art galleries in the world.

Some of the paintings in these galleries are available for a closer look, allowing the user to zoom in and see the detailed textures of the artwork.  Moving around can be a little challenging, but Google does provide a standard navigation to control what is seen as well.  I imagine that navigation will only get better as this is developed.

The Ambassadors by Hans Holbein the Younger, the detail of this work is at the top of the post. Google Art Project allows you to zoom in and see paint texture and cracks on the surface.
