This week I am rolling the dreamy sounds of Widowspeak on repeat to keep me inspired and driven during my day. Widowspeak is a Brooklyn-based indie rock duo formed in 2010, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Molly Hamilton and guitarist Robert Earl Thomas. Their music blends dream pop, country, and classic rock into hazy, haunting songs. Over the years, they’ve released several albums, including their self-titled debut in 2011, “Almanac” in 2013, and “The Jacket” in 2022, each showcasing their evolving sound and lyrical depth.
Widowspeak’s music has been described as “cowboy pop,” a genre that combines country influences with indie rock and pop elements, placing them among other New York City-based bands that emerged in the late 2010s.
