Damon Ginandes, a Brooklyn based mixed media artist, paints elaborate compositions of portraits intermingling with one another.
Devoid of context and stripped of external identity, they are portraits of souls – ageless, anonymous, and solitary. Their longing stares serve as a mute communication from which a distinct visual and psychological intimacy emerges.

I was so happy to see Amanda’s work in my inbox earlier this week. Her unique assembled sculptures suspend found objects still visible from the exterior. Her portfolio displays many unique works and is certainly worth checking out.

I read about a great artist on drawn.ca over the weekend and had to include a feature here. Miki Sato creates textures rich images with
many found surfaces and textiles creating a uniquely three dimensional and tactile piece.
The work feels influenced by Sato’s sense of illustration and has a wonderful organic feel. Checkout the site for more great work.

A section from Exquisite Corpse – which totals 60 panels. Each panel is 32 inches tall, and widths range from 6 to 15 inches.
Art elements consist of photos taken by the artists, scanned drawings, vector illustration, and digital drawings created with a drawing tablet. The final art is assembled using mostly Illustrator and Photoshop.

This ongoing collaborative project is based on a drawing technique called “Exquisite Corpse.” The technique was invented by Surrealists in 1925 and is based on an old parlour game in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution.
