The artwork of Alexa Meade is certainly much more than my title suggests and lives somewhere between photography, painting and performance. These illusionistic installations require tedious attention to detail to pull off such a wonderful visual effect.
Over the weekend, many different outlets shared views of the September 11 tragedy. Artists have also expressed their feelings over the years and Googling for artist 9/11 tributes will return thousands of works.
As the year comes to an end, I, like many, tend to reflect on the last year. One thing I enjoy is looking back to see what posts readers of Today in Art like most. The best way I have of doing this today is by looking at the most visited posts.
I first found Lucy McRae when she was collaborating with Bart Hess. Lucy’s latest work, TransNatural will be opening this Friday, February 19, 2010. TransNatural explores “the crossover between nature and technology.”
With the year drawing to a close we naturally reflect on the past year. 2009 has been kind to this little blog and I look forward to what 2010 may bring. I aggregated a list of the 20 most visited posts from 2009 from the stats and this is what I found. Oddly enough, some were pretty recent, and some were from last year. I decided to include the ones from last year as well since I have many new readers.
