Scott Fife has been creating artwork from cardboard for many years and has mastered the manipulation of this medium. I am fascinated at the lifelike features of these pieces created with such a blunt and basic material.
The artwork of Alexa Meade is certainly much more than my title suggests and lives somewhere between photography, painting and performance. These illusionistic installations require tedious attention to detail to pull off such a wonderful visual effect.
Kostis Velonis creates sculpture, often times influenced from other places or works, and constructed from found objects, wood and other materials.
Erik Otto does some amazing paintings that are linear, fluid and ripe with texture. Oh yeah, he does some nice sculpture too.
Ivan Navarro creates hanging and free standing sculptures of lights and mirrors, creating the illusion of depth. Some of his newer work draws inspiration from the blueprints of world famous skyscrapers.
Greg Bogin’s artwork is clean and minimal with a synthetic feel. His canvases are irregularly shaped and in full or partially by intensely bright colors.
Working in several different mediums, Olve Sande builds, paints and constructs finely calculated, architecturally inspired works of art. Many of Sande’s pieces are inspired and derived from patterns of thought and/or behavior.
As the year comes to an end, I, like many, tend to reflect on the last year. One thing I enjoy is looking back to see what posts readers of Today in Art like most. The best way I have of doing this today is by looking at the most visited posts.
